Brutal Killing of an unknown Civilian in Ambazonia by bulu Occupation Forces

April 12, 2025 – Bamenda, Mezam State, Northern Ambazonia:

An innocent civilian was abducted, tortured, and brutally murdered by Cameroon Occupation Forces (COF) in Bamenda, Northern Ambazonia. His lifeless body, covered in wounds, was discovered dumped at the roadside. This act of extrajudicial killing is the latest in a disturbing pattern of violence perpetrated by COF in the occupied territories of Ambazonia.

Violation of International Laws

The abduction and execution of civilians without due process constitute a direct violation of International Laws, including the Geneva Conventions, which prohibit targeting non-combatants. The use of torture and arbitrary killings by state actors like the Cameroon Occupation Forces further breaches key legal frameworks such as the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR), to which Cameroon is a signatory.

Crimes Against Humanity and War Crimes

The deliberate targeting of civilians, especially in a region under conflict like Ambazonia, amounts to a war crime under the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court. The repeated and systematic nature of such killings could also be classified as crimes against humanity. These actions by the Cameroon Occupation Forces reflect a pattern of gross impunity and disregard for international legal norms.

Ongoing Disappearances and Human Rights Abuses

Civilians in Ambazonia are living in constant fear. Disappearances, unlawful detentions, and executions have become a daily reality. Victims are often taken from their homes or streets by the Cameroon Occupation Forces, never to be seen again. Such practices are in clear violation of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, particularly the right to life, liberty, and security of person.

International Community Must Act

The International community must urgently investigate these crimes and hold the Cameroon Occupation Forces accountable. Silence and inaction only embolden further atrocities. Independent human rights organizations and the United Nations must step in to ensure justice for the victims and to protect the civilian population of Ambazonia from further harm.
