The Disappearance And Execution of Nkeng Emmanuel By Cameroon Occupation Forces

23 March 2025, Agiatse Bafut, Mezam State, Northern Ambazonia: the Cameroon Occupation Forces committed a grave war crime by executing a young man, Nkeng Emmanuel, with both hands tied behind his back. Nkeng Emmanuel, a 20-year-old from Pinying, had been missing for two weeks. His family had reported his disappearance, but the Cameroon Occupation Forces denied any involvement. The discovery of his body in Bafut has left his family and the community in deep shock and outrage.
Violation of International Laws and Human Rights
The execution of Nkeng Emmanuel is a direct violation of International Laws and fundamental human rights. Under the Geneva Conventions, extrajudicial killings are strictly prohibited, and individuals detained during conflicts must be granted due process. The Cameroon Occupation Forces’ actions constitute a war crime as defined by the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court (ICC), which criminalizes unlawful executions and enforced disappearances. This act violates the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR), which guarantees the right to life, liberty, and security.
Systematic War Crimes in Ambazonia
The execution of Nkeng Emmanuel is not an isolated incident but part of a systematic campaign of violence by the Cameroon Occupation Forces in Ambazonia. Reports from human rights organizations indicate widespread abuses, including arbitrary arrests, torture, and killings of civilians. Such acts amount to crimes against humanity, as they are committed systematically against a civilian population. The continuous denial of these crimes by Cameroon authorities further exacerbates the suffering of victims’ families and obstructs justice.
The International Community Must Intervene
The international community has a legal and moral obligation to intervene and hold the Cameroon Occupation Forces accountable for their actions in Ambazonia. International organizations, including the United Nations and the International Criminal Court, must investigate these war crimes and impose sanctions against those responsible. The people of Ambazonia deserve justice, and the ongoing human rights violations must not go unpunished. The world must take urgent action to prevent further atrocities and ensure that perpetrators face the full force of International Laws.
